Background
The SWOT mission brings together communities focused on a better understanding of the world's oceans, its terrestrial surface waters, and the coastal and estuarine environments that lie in between. First data also show promising results for glaciology, soil moisture, wetlands, and even topography. French and US oceanographers and hydrologists and international partners have joined forces to develop this satellite mission to make the first global survey of Earth's surface water, observe the fine details of the ocean's surface topography, and measure how these water bodies change over time.
This meeting will take place over four days. Day 1 focuses on mission updates and scientific progress nearly three years post-launch. A plenary session follows, highlighting significant advancements and new findings in deltas, estuaries, and coastal systems. Day 2 highlights the SWOT products, reprocessing status, and current understanding of the mission’s capabilities. Presentations from the broader SWOT user community showcase new discoveries and insights. Day 3 features scientific advancements achieved within the SWOT working groups, with focused discussions taking place in splinter sessions. Day 4 emphasizes the science and applications enabled by SWOT, featuring insights shared by the wider user community. The meeting concludes with an open discussion on future directions for ocean and continental water observations, and also on the further exploration of other domains.
Poster sessions are held at the end of each plenary or splinter session, providing an opportunity for in-depth exploration and presentation of detailed scientific findings.
